Tacocat compel us to listen to their clever pop-punk with new single Talk

This is the second single from their highly anticipated album Lost Time, which is due for release on 1 April via Hardly Art Records. Talk begins with an addictive riff supported by hand clapping, an intense bassline and pounding drums. The track blends 80s pop with grungy 90s indie rock and has a deceptively simple sound. The brooding and darkly echoing vocals complement catchy, straightforward lyrics – “I wanna talk, talk until my throat hurts” quickly embeds itself in your brain.

The Seattle-based group – best friends Emily Nokes (vocals, tambourine), Eric Randall (guitar), Lelah Maupin (drums), and Bree McKenna (bass) – have also announced that they are the performers of Who’s Got The Power?, the new theme song for Cartoon Network’s re-imagining of The Powerpuff Girls that will be out in the Spring. This sassy soundtrack to Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup kicking ass all over the opening sequence to the show is 25 seconds of pure riot grrl joy.

Tacocat‘s vibrant sound and plainspoken lyrics will undoubtedly get everyone talking when they tour the UK in May.
