As Halloween creeps closer, Honeyblood are getting into the spirit in the eerie video for Sea Hearts.
Sea Hearts is the catchy, fuzz-filled latest single from Honeyblood’s forthcoming second album Babes Never Die (out 4 November via Fat Cat Records) and the video for it is as feisty and alluring as the song. It is the band’s second collaboration with director Thomas James, following the macabre vision of a post-apocalyptic Scottish countryside in the video for Ready For The Magic.
The video for Sea Hearts begins with a woman emerging from the sea and heading for a house party, but we quickly discover that she’s not all that she seems and events take a dark turn. The interactions between the sea witch and the party goers become more intense as the night continues and it’s not long before she is captivating them with her writhing dance moves while Honeyblood play in the background. This cinematic piece has a strange but happy ending – depending on who you’re rooting for.
Talking about the making of the video, frontwoman Stina Tweeddale commented: “We wanted to make something that ties in with the whole aesthetic story of the Babes Never Die album. So we were lucky enough to be able to get Thomas James and his wonderful team onboard again. He took ideas from the song and transformed them into this amazing narrative. It was captivating to watch the sea witch come to life through the talent of the lead dancers and crazy costume prosthetics.”
Following on from their eight-date tour with DIY Magazine, Honeyblood will be back on the road in November (dates below).
