Gengahr shine blissfully brightly on Before Sunrise – the next single to be taken from their highly-anticipated second album Where Wildness Grows.
The North London four-piece – Felix Bushe (vocals/guitar), John Victor (guitar), Danny Ward (drums) & Hugh Schulte (bass) – have shared another exciting single from new album Where Wildness Grows (released 9th March via Transgressive Records). Recorded in London during summer 2017 by acclaimed producer Neil Comber (Glass Animals, M.I.A, Songhoy Blues) it follows their exhilarating and acclaimed debut A Dream Outside. The band will embark on a UK and European headline tour after the album release (UK dates below), which will include a milestone show at London’s Koko.
Coming after the release of the intense rush of Carrion and the anthemic swoon of Mallory, Before Sunrise is a hazy taste of the summer to come – but still with their distinctive edge. Bushe’s vocals – shifting in and out of his now familiar falsetto – melt into the breezy melody, underpinned by a grooving bassline and punctuated by the sharp riff. It feels like no coincidence that the sun breaks through at the same moment I hit play.
“Before Sunrise is a song that celebrates the relief and simplicity one can find lost in the night. A clarity and single mindedness that doesn’t exist in day to day life. A beautiful weightlessness that gradually dissolves as the sun comes up.” says Bushe.
This track just brings a smile to my face and the sunshine into an otherwise drab day. It’s one of those songs that you miss as soon as it ends – but don’t worry, you can listen to it again and again below.
With their stunning debut, Gengahr planted the seeds of greatness and Where Wildness Grows looks set to show just how much they’ve bloomed.
