London Grammar match epic visuals to their soaring soundscapes in the video for new single Big Picture.
Following the unexpected release of Rooting For You on New Year’s Day, the band – made up of Hannah Reid (vocals), Dot Major (keyboard, drums) and Dan Rothman (guitars) – have released their second single of 2017 Big Picture. Fans will be eagerly awaiting news of a second album to follow their critically acclaimed 2013 debut album If You Wait, which featured the Ivor Novello Award-winning single Strong.
The track is an ambient electropop slow-burner produced by acclaimed British musician Jon Hopkins (Brian Eno, King Creosote). It is carried along by an insistent beat that backs Reid’s powerful, brooding vocals.
The video, directed by Sophie Muller (who has previously worked with Coldplay and Beyonce), reflects the intense soundscapes in the track with striking silhouetted images of the band in front of sparkling stars above vast landscapes. As the track builds, the video becomes more visually stimulating with rushing dust clouds and lightning bolts.
At the end of the video the universe seems laid out before London Grammar and, with this start to 2017, they should get ready for more worldwide acclaim.
